Glebe Farm Equine Learning

Building Confidence, Wellbeing and Life Skills Through Horses

There is something truly special about spending time with horses.

Their calm, gentle nature has a unique way of helping people slow down, relax and feel safe. At Glebe Farm Equine Learning, we use that special connection to help children, young people, adults and individuals with additional needs grow in confidence, improve emotional wellbeing and develop valuable life skills in a peaceful farm environment. Sometimes the greatest lessons in life aren't taught in a classroom. They happen quietly, through trust, patience and the gentle connection between a person and a horse. Every person who walks through our gates brings their own story, their own challenges and their own strengths. That's why no two sessions are ever the same. Each experience is carefully tailored to meet the individual, allowing them to learn, grow and progress at their own pace in a calm, supportive and completely non-judgemental setting.

Meet Linda Doherty

Glebe Farm Equine Learning is owned and led by Linda Doherty, a passionate horsewoman and Qualified Therapeutic Riding Coach who believes in the incredible difference horses can make to people's lives.

Linda combines her experience, knowledge and genuine compassion to create a welcoming environment where every participant feels valued, encouraged and understood. Her aim is simple, to help each person leave the farm feeling more confident, more capable and more connected than when they arrived.

More Than Just Spending Time With Horses

The horses and ponies at Glebe Farm are far more than companions, they are patient teachers.

Through carefully planned Equine Assisted Learning sessions, participants build relationships with the horses while taking part in meaningful ground based activities such as grooming, leading, caring for the horses, learning about stable management and enjoying sensory experiences. Where appropriate, therapeutic riding experiences may also be included.

These activities gently encourage communication, trust, emotional awareness and problem solving, while helping participants develop confidence and independence in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.

Often, it's the smallest moments that make the biggest difference a horse choosing to stand quietly beside someone, the first confident smile after leading a pony, or simply taking time to breathe and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Supporting Emotional Wellbeing Through Horses

The calming presence of horses has long been recognised for the positive impact it can have on emotional wellbeing.

Equine Assisted Learning can be particularly beneficial for children and adults experiencing anxiety, low confidence, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, additional needs or social and emotional challenges. Many families also choose Glebe Farm simply because they want a positive, confidence building experience in nature.

Whatever brings someone here, our focus remains the same: creating a safe space where every individual feels accepted, respected and encouraged to succeed.

A Place Where Confidence Grows

Confidence isn't built overnight.

It grows through trust, encouragement and small achievements that gradually become life-changing milestones.

At Glebe Farm Equine Learning, participants develop practical skills while also discovering resilience, patience, communication, responsibility and self belief. The confidence gained during a session often extends into everyday life, helping people feel more comfortable at school, at home, in work or in social situations.

Every success, no matter how small, is celebrated.

Sometimes the Most Powerful Moments Happen in Silence

When we slow down, horses often do the same. They don't judge. They don't rush. They don't expect perfection.

Instead, they encourage us to be present, to build trust and to communicate without words.

These quiet moments often become the most memorable, creating a sense of calm, achievement and connection that stays with participants long after they leave the farm.
